BUGS BUNNY CARTOON | BUGS BUNNY in Falling Hare (High Quality Public Domain)
PUBLIC DOMAIN BUGS BUNNY CARTOON: BUGS BUNNY in Falling Hare (1943) Watch Bugs Bunny, Academy Award®-winning animated rabbit/hare, get owned by a diabolical Gremlin. This is one of Merrie Melodies and Looney Tunes greatest cartoons. Enjoy.
At 3:28, the Gremlin shouts: “It ain’t Vendell Vilkie!”
Mel Blanc and Warner Brothers’ team of talented cartoonists thought it would prove hilarious if they poked fun at Wendell Wilkie who as the Republican presidential candidate in 1939.
Vendell Vilkie is deemed the Yiddish pronunciation of Wilkie’s name. Wilkie, a lawyer, is considered one of the NAACP’s heros during the Jim Crow era.
Sadly, Wilkie died in 1944, one year after the release of “Falling Hare” in 1943.
What does the Gremlin say at 3:28????
